Vinnytsya Triathlon Cup: Race Report
Vinnytsya played host to the opening stage of the Vinnytsya Triathlon Cup on June 1, with athletes lining up across three race formats: Sprint, Olympic, and 70.3. The series will continue with Stage Two on July 6 and conclude with Stage Three on September 7. Registration details are available via the UTL website and Telegram channel.
70.3 Race
Roman Hirshfeld was first out of the water and led the bike leg as well. But in the half-marathon run, the race dynamic shifted. Kyiv’s Maksym Lavreniuk surged to the front and clocked the fastest run split of the day to take the victory. Viktor Parkhomchuk crossed the line in second, while early leader Roman Hirshfeld finished third—both podium spots going to representatives from Kherson. Kyiv’s Serhii Yangicher narrowly missed the podium by just five seconds.
Olympic Distance
Ivano-Frankivsk’s Ihor Dynka dominated the swim, but was soon reeled in by the main contenders Roman Vykhovanets and Andrii Stetsiuk during the bike leg. The hometown favorites from Vinnytsya quickly took control and built a four-minute gap. On the run, Vykhovanets pulled away to secure the win, with Stetsiuk taking silver.
The battle for bronze was dramatic. Despite holding a 1:20 advantage going into the run, Dynka was caught by Serhii Ivanov, who stormed to third place. Dynka finished a strong fourth overall.
Sprint Distance
In the Sprint, the titles went to Dmytro Liulko and Iryna Brezytska. Podium spots were earned by Artem Yarmoliuk and Maksym Shtoyko among the men, while Kateryna Kostrova placed on the women’s podium.
70.3 Relay:
Kyiv’s team of Halyna Pasichnyk, Hryhorii Ishchenko, and Viktor Nedybaliuk took part in the 70.3 relay.
Running Events
Parallel to the triathlon races, a mass running event attracted close to 850 participants.
