Ukrainian Olympic Triathlon Championship & Subaru Triatman Series
A spectacular celebration of sport took place on July 26th in Kruhlyk, Kyiv region, as Ukraine’s finest triathletes lined up for national titles over the standard distance. Alongside them, hundreds of amateur athletes battled in the Olympic distance event as part of the Subaru Triatman Series.
Women’s Race: The Matsupko Masterclass
Natalia Matsupko delivered a commanding performance that left no room for doubt. The Triatman club athlete, and long-time guide for paratriathlete Vita Oleksiuk (PTVI B1), led every leg — swim, bike, and run — to clinch the title in dominant fashion. A certified Master of Sport since 2018, Matsupko is no stranger to the spotlight, with multiple Age Group podiums in full Ironman races, and a Top 10 finish at the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2023.
20 minutes later, silver medalist Tania Korol (CapitalTri) crossed the finish line, having posted second-best splits across all three segments. Daria Lytovchenko (Sota Team Kremen) and Radmila Kalinina (Hedonism) were early contenders out of the water, but on the bike, the “Iron Lady” Irena Vasylevska (Sapik Team) surged past them to secure bronze in the amateur division. Kalinina and Lytovchenko rounded out the top 5.
Men’s Race: Hadiko’s Solo Symphony
In the men’s race, Kyiv’s Oleksandr Hadiko (CapitalTri) seized the lead in the swim and never looked back. The capital city’s rising star was unmatched on the bike and run, cruising to a resounding victory. Bogdan Polovynko (KIT Triathlon Team) of Kharkiv exited the water just 24 seconds behind and remained a threat through the bike leg, but ultimately settled for sixth.
The battle for the podium unfolded between a trio of Kyiv-based contenders. Yurii Klym (CapitalTri) used a strong run to pass Oleksandr Osypchuk (Aerostar-Team One) and claim silver. Rounding out the top five were Dmytro Stetsiuk of Rivne (CapitalTri / Triathlon Academy Rivne) and Ihor Shyrokyi (Aerostar-Team One).
Among the elites, Anton Lytvynenko (CapitalTri) made a remarkable comeback after a slower swim, climbing through the field on the bike and run to finish eighth.
Relay Day
The second day featured relay events, including the elite mixed team relay. CapitalTri Sub4 (Anton Lytvynenko, Oleksandr Hadiko, Dmytro Stetsiuk) stormed to victory. KIT1-Novus and Aerostar-Team One rounded out the podium, while the all-female “Girl Power” team (Yana Levchyk, Viktoria Spivakovska, Viktoria Tyndyk) earned high praise for their performance.
