Ukrainian Cross Triathlon Championship
On August 18th, the village of Ukhovets in the Kovel region hosted the Ukrainian Cross Triathlon Championship. Both elite and amateur athletes competed in the event, which featured a 1 km swim, 20 km cross-country bike, and 6 km cross-country run as part of the Uho Lake Cross Triathlon 2024.
Olha Sydorchuk started the race in the lead and secured a commanding victory, while Dmytro Stetsiuk triumphed among amateur men, claiming both the overall title and the best result among the elite athletes.
Interestingly, the World Cross Triathlon Championship had just concluded, with the winner completing the course 46 seconds slower than Dmytro.
Vitalii Volynets led the swim, followed by Oleksandr Lyatsevych, Dmytro Stetsiuk, and Artem Tyshchuk. As the bike leg began, Dmytro Stetsiuk from Rivne took the lead, showcasing his unmatched skills in this discipline. With just the run left, Dmytro cruised to victory.
The battle for podium positions in the overall standings continued between Oleksandr and Vitalii. They recorded nearly identical bike times, but the representative from Ternopil maintained his advantage from the swim and held off Oleksandr from Lutsk. Artem Tyshchuk finished fourth.
In the women’s race, Olha Sydorchuk from Kovel started strong, leading the way. Maiya Abramovych from Netishyn was a minute behind in the swim. Olha extended her lead by another minute during the bike leg, arriving at the transition zone first, and dominated the run to become the Ukrainian Cross Triathlon Champion! Maria Kharytonenko nearly caught the leader by making up three minutes on the bike. The Netishyn representative overtook Abramovych, but challenging the leader on the run proved difficult. Maria finished second, with Maiya third in the overall women’s standings.
The event was organized by the Kovel Triathlon Federation. Results.
