Triton Indoor Aquathlon & Run: Results and Highlights
Odessa kicked off the triathlon calendar year with a signature event for amateur athletes! On January 19, the Odessa age groups triathlon aquathlon Regional Winter Championship saw nearly 80 participants compete in this indoor spectacle.
Men’s Competition: A Show of Dominance
Male athletes from Odessa, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv headlined the event. The 13 participants tackled 500 meters of swimming followed by a 3000-meter run. Anton Lytvynenko of Capital Tri, the reigning Ukrainian champion in aquathlon, was unbeatable in both disciplines. Anton completed the swim in 6:28 and powered through the run in 9:37, securing a commanding victory.
Sergiy Chernyshov was 19 seconds slower in the swim but maintained his edge to finish second overall. Behind them, a heated contest unfolded among Andriy Churanov, Sergiy Baranovskyi, and Oleksandr Postika.
Andriy Churanov clinched the bronze in the overall standings, narrowly edging out Viktor Lazanyuk, who placed fourth. Oleksandr Postika rounded out the top five.
Fan Poll: Predicting the Favorites
In a fan poll conducted on Telegram, Anton Lytvynenko emerged as the overwhelming favorite for victory, with Vitaliy Savich securing second in the predictions. Sergiy Chernyshov claimed the third spot in the poll but delivered a stellar performance to finish as the event’s runner-up.
Age Group Highlights
Roman Leyzerovych from Mykolaiv represented the 18-29 age group. In the 30-39 category, Anton Lytvynenko stood dominant, sharing the podium with Odessa natives Vitaliy Savich and Oleksandr Sizov. In the 40-49 division, Sergiy Chernyshov led the way, accompanied by Andriy Churanov (Kyiv) and Viktor Lazanyuk (Odessa). Representing the 50-59 group was Odessa’s Volodymyr Berzilov.
Additional Run Events and Emerging Talent
The athletics arena also hosted standalone 1500- and 3000-meter runs. Sofia Harmash and Sergiy Saltievskyi claimed victories in the 3 km event, while Maksym Kiryakov and Oleksii Platonov, alongside Kateryna Kudlata among the women, earned podium finishes. Tatiana Manikalo and Kazymyr Alshevskyi showcased their speed in the 1500 meters.
Youth Triathlon: Building Future Champions
A cornerstone of the amateur competition was the youth triathlon, featuring nearly 50 participants aged 7 to 17. This event highlights the growing passion and talent in Ukraine’s younger generation, fostering the champions of tomorrow.
