The most anticipated race of the season, the Svitiaz Iron Wave 70.3 triathlon, was held on September 15 in Svitiaz, Volyn region. Organized by the Triathlon Federation of Volyn, this race grows in prestige each year.
The victory in the overall standings was decided between two favorites: one, a top amateur, and the other, a star of Ukrainian triathlon who previously represented the country on the world stage. With only 49 seconds separating them at the finish, Oleksandr Khadyko claimed the win, with Oleksii Syutkin taking silver. Anton Lytvynenko was the fastest among the chasing pack. In the women’s race, Olha Nemchenko took the top spot, leaving second place for Olha Sydorchuk. Unfortunately, Yevheniya Idyoyatova could not compete due to a knee injury. However, she received great support from the Ukrainian Triathlon League community. On the Olympic distance, this year’s race didn’t see any new records. Tetiana Korol and Bohdan Polovynko took first place, while Yaroslav Ozyumenko and Sergii Chernyshov were among the podium finishers. In a post-race poll, Korol and Polovynko garnered the majority of votes. Full results are available at this link.
