Sopachiv Super Sprint Triathlon: the 5th Anniversary Race

On July 27, the small village of Sopachiv in Ukraine’s Rivne region hosted the 5th anniversary edition of the Sopachiv Super Sprint Triathlon — and this year’s course was no joke. Athletes faced a longer challenge than in previous years: 600 meters of crystal-clear quarry swimming, 15 kilometers of cycling on a newly paved and scenic route, and 4 kilometers of fast-paced running on smooth asphalt.

🏆 Alexander Lyatsevych and Anna Hutsalo emerged victorious in the overall standings, demonstrating tactical excellence and superior form. On the men’s side, Anton Hutsalo and Dmytro Novosad joined Lyatsevych on the podium. Among the women, Olena Hutsalo and Oleksandra Sukhonenko took second and third, respectively.

The men’s race kicked off with Denys Voitovych setting a blistering pace in the water. Anton Hutsalo exited second, while Lyatsevych and Novosad trailed by over a minute and three minutes, respectively. But Lyatsevych flipped the script on the bike leg, crushing the course with a commanding four-minute lead over Anton. Novosad clawed his way from 13th after the swim to finish third overall — thanks to a lightning-fast 3:55/km run split.

In the women’s race, Anna Hutsalo took control early on the bike and never looked back. Behind her, a fierce podium battle broke out between Oleksandra Sukhonenko, Olena Hutsalo, Zhanna Badalis, and Olha Hrytsai. Anna’s lead of over three minutes after the bike ensured a comfortable win, while Olena edged out Oleksandra after a neck-and-neck run for second.

Team relay glory went to FT Lutsk, with Team Amber and Team Yuris Elegant rounding out the podium.
