Karpatyman Extreme Half 2025 – Where Legends Are Forged in the Carpathians

une 7, in the heart of Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region, the Carpathian wilderness bore witness to one of the most grueling triathlons on the continent: Karpatyman Extreme Half. With chilling waters, relentless climbs, and a trail run that crosses six mountain peaks, this race isn’t just a test of endurance — it’s a rite of passage.

The Course: Brutal and Beautiful
Athletes began with a chilling 2.0 km swim in the icy waters (11–15°C) of the Tereblya-Ritske Reservoir near Mereshor. From there, it was a 102.9 km bike ride through the rugged passes of Synevyr, Mizhhirya, Pylypets, and Volovets, culminating at a dizzying 1702 meters. The final assault? A punishing 26.9 km mountain run over six peaks of the Borzhava range, totaling a staggering 2840 meters in elevation gain.

Men’s Race – Nahonry Sets the Pace, Smashes the Record
Yaroslav Ozyumenko, Oleksandr Osypchuk, and Mykyta Nahonry were first out of the water. But it was Nahonry who stole the show. After gaining a crucial four-minute lead on the bike over last year’s champion Osypchuk, he extended that gap on the run and never looked back. The Kyiv native surged through the brutal mountain course, becoming the only athlete to break the 3-hour barrier on the run. Nahonry took the win in a staggering 6:35:54, shattering the previous course record by over 15 minutes.
Osypchuk, ever consistent, finished runner-up half an hour later, while Oleksii Khoptiar rounded out the podium.
Rounding out the men’s top 10: Serhii Antsupov, Danyil Timachov, Andrii Stetsiuk, Viktor Lazaniuk, Oleh Tserkovnyi, the UK’s Sam Curley, and Yurii Yashchuk.

Women’s Race: Ignatkina’s Masterclass
It was a wire-to-wire performance from Anastasiia Ihnatkina. First out of the water. Fastest on the bike. Still leading onto the run. It was only Olga Dyvnych-Bartoshyk who came close—erasing minutes on the run and nearly catching Ihnatkina in the final stretch. In the end, 30 seconds separated them, but the crown went to the reigning queen: Anastasiia Ihnatkina, now a two-time Karpatyman champion with a new course record—over 50 minutes faster than the previous best!
Olga Dyvnych-Bartoshyk took silver in an epic chase, and Anna Botyukh held on for bronze after a strong bike leg. The top five was rounded out by Inna Kovalenko and Poland’s Oksana Sivtsova.

Relay: Men Chase, Women Impress
Among the five relay squads, it was Oleksandra Hryshyna who set the pace on the swim for an all-female trio alongside Khrystyna Mishchenko and Alina Havrosh. But on the bike, the men struck back—Oleksandr Nesterenko handed over the lead to runner Oleh Miroshnychenko, who carried the baton home for the overall team win. The women’s team finished second, and another female team—featuring runner Zinaida Hrynchuk and teammates Olga Lysak and Daria Kisliak—claimed third.
