Blue Lakes Sprint Triathlon 2025
ABRAMOVYCH SHINES BRIGHT IN WOMEN’S FIELD
It was all dominance from the very first stroke. Maya Abramovych led the women’s race from the water, building a 23-second lead over Natalia Karpenko, with Maria Kharitonenko nearly a minute back. Once on the bike, Abramovych extended her gap to a commanding three minutes — a margin that would prove insurmountable on the run. She crossed the finish line not just as the overall champion, but as the top performer in all three disciplines of this rugged cross triathlon.
Behind her, the fight for silver was fierce. Kharitonenko caught Karpenko on the bike and held firm through the run to claim second. Anna Ukolova made a late charge to overtake Karpenko in the final stretch for bronze. Karpenko would settle for fourth, ahead of Yelena Petrovska, Yelyzaveta Yassirska, and Natalia Zelenska.
STETSIUK MAKES IT THREE IN A ROW IN MEN’S RACE
A stacked men’s field of 43 athletes lined up, but it was Dmytro Ivanov who made the early statement, exiting the water with a 1:40 lead over Artem Tyshchuk and Oleksii Shapoval. Three minutes off the pace were Dmytro Steziuk, Kostiantyn Yassirskiy, and Denys Hordiiev. But the bike leg changed everything. Steziuk hammered the course, moving from outside the top three to take the lead into T2.
Once on the run, the seasoned veteran never looked back — crossing the line as the overall winner, securing his third career victory at Blue Lakes Cross Triathlon. Tyshchuk made his move on the run to grab second, just ahead of Shapoval, while Ivanov slipped to fourth. The top ten was rounded out by Vadym Misko, Denys Hordiiev, Mykola Zynskyi, Yehor Petrenko, Petro Kyslianka, and Maksym Vlasenko.
COURSE RECORD FALLS – AGAIN
The men’s course record of 1:16:03, set by Stetsiuk in 2023, remains untouched — but in the women’s race, Maya Abramovych delivered fireworks, setting a new course record of 1:36:03, slashing nearly two minutes off her own 2024 benchmark. A stunning performance from the queen of Blue Lakes.
